WHO AM I
Hi. I'm Chan Roberts, an English-language teacher and urban explorer. My two favorite things are coffee and cigars.

I became an English-language teacher because I have loved language ever since I was in elementary school - though it took me until I was nearly out of my 40s to finally do something about it. I first started teaching English in Kazakhstan, where I taught at a language school in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana. From there, I went to a middle school in China, followed by universities in China. I currently teach at a university in northeastern China.

I consider myself an urban explorer. I like to travel to different cities and explore them. For me, this means that I just start walking in one direction or another, turning down side streets, just to see what there is to see. It's something that started when I was in the American Navy and I would just go wander off by myself when ships I was on hit different Asian ports.
