Hotels in China named for dead Irish author

Located at number 2 Shangyou Street just off Harbin's famous Central Street (Zhongyang Dajie), this is apparently one of several such hotels in China (there are two more in Harbin alone). Other than the name, there seems to be no connection between this hotel and either the 20th century Irish writer (whose book Dubliners I'm currently reading) or to coffee (which they don't have here, much to my disappointment). But, being the urban explorer that I am, I had to spend a night here just to say that I did.

Reception desk

I booked a single bed with a window for less than 300 RMB a night (which was less than on their room rate sign at the reception desk). The room was small, but nicely and simply decorated. The bathroom has quite modern fixtures. The bed took up most of the room and was quite comfortable. When I book a hotel, it's just to have a place to sleep and take a shower; so, the absence of other amenities like a restaurant doesn't bother me - there are plenty of places to eat nearby.

The bed took up nearly the entire room

I always bring my own coffee

Overall, I'd recommend staying here if you're visiting Harbin. It's just off Harbin's famous Central Street and close to the Flood Control Monument (and the Songhua River).
